Position Summary
The Development and Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the organization’s fundraising, donor engagement, and communication efforts. This role manages donor data systems, coordinates communications, and supports fundraising initiatives, including events and campaigns. The position plays a key role in strengthening relationships with donors and the community while ensuring consistent, accurate, and mission-aligned messaging across all platforms.

Essential Functions
CRM and Donor Data Management:
- Manage and maintain the organization’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of donor information, gifts, and interactions.
- Generate reports and donor insights to support fundraising strategies.
- Maintain data integrity and confidentiality in all donor records.
- Assist in donor segmentation and list management for targeted campaigns.
Donor Stewardship and Acknowledgment:
- Prepare and send timely donor acknowledgments, including thank-you letters and receipts.
- Draft and manage pledge letters and track pledge fulfillment.
- Support donor stewardship efforts to enhance engagement and retention.
- Ensure all donor communications reflect professionalism and appreciation[SE1] .
Event Planning and Management:
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising events.
- Manage event logistics, timelines, and vendor coordination.
- Assist with event promotion and communication strategies.
- Support on-site event operations to ensure successful execution.
Silent Auction Coordination:
- Plan and manage silent auction activities as part of fundraising events.
- Solicit and procure auction items from donors, sponsors, and community partners.
- Track and organize auction items, descriptions, and values.
- Coordinate auction setup, bidding processes, and post-event follow-up.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with the Director of Development and other team members to support fundraising initiatives.
- Assist in campaign planning and execution.
- Provide administrative support for development activities as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of donor and organizational information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in fundraising, communications, or nonprofit development.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and donor database management.
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Experience managing social media platforms and website content.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
